World Book Day - letter that went home to parents

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have got some exciting events coming up in school that we’d like to share with you.

World Book Day

We will be celebrating World Book Day in school on Friday 6th March. On this day, your child can dress up as their favourite book character or come dressed in a bright colour that makes them feel happy. If they’d rather come in their school uniform as usual, that is absolutely fine.

Bookmark Competition

All children are invited to enter a bookmark competition for the chance to win a £10 book voucher (donated by the PTA) – a separate letter contains the details.

Share a Million Stories

As part of World Book Month, we are going to take part in their ‘Share a Million Stories’ campaign. The idea of this is to share as many stories as possible with each other. It might be a whole book, a chapter or just an extract. The expectation is to read for 10 minutes at a time. As a school, we will keep a tally of how many stories have been shared. For more information, search this link:

Celebrate stories with the children

At 2:30pm on Friday 6th March, you are invited to watch your child perform their latest English text – please note, we will only be doing one performance on this day. At 2:45pm, you are invited to share a story with your child. This might be a story from school or from home. Each child will be writing their own story on World Book Day which they may wish to share with you.

We are very excited about the activities that are happening over the next week – we hope you are too!

We look forward to seeing you.
