The diocesan theme we are reflecting upon during the Lent term is ‘Discipleship’.
Bishop Patrick said ‘because of that personal encounter with Christ, I would like to encourage each of us to hear and respond to his invitation to be his DISCIPLES, to follow him more closely, and to seek to serve him generously in our daily lives.’
(Bishop Patrick’s Pastoral Letter, 31st Sunday of Ordinary Time, Nov 2018)
Being a disciple means to follow. For example following a teacher or a way of life, it’s where the word discipline comes from. The word reminds us that to follow Jesus we have to follow in His footsteps, to live like Him and shape our lives in a way that reflects who He was and what He taught us.
How do you think God wants us to live our lives?
God calls us to be kind and generous, to share with others and forgive others and to try always to do what is right. God asks us to love our neighbour as ourselves.
